Ramone, aka Hirez, started composing electronic music at an early age using
only 4 tracks on a Commodore Amiga home computer. HipHop was his first love,
though his interests covered every kind of breakbeat. Ramone, who never
really belonged to just one „scene“, was not of the SP12 school, he even
did not have a single 1210, but still his attitude and approach were those
of a pure B-Boy with a classic old school style. As early as the early '90s -
long before the web-boom - Ramone was making world-wide internet
contacts through his music. He got to know many kindred spirits, particularly
within the monotonik.com community, engaged in a lively interchange of ideas,
musical styles and techniques, and in making good music on a low budget.
In 1997 Ramone released his first drum and bass 12" on Firehorse Records.
But some years were to pass until the release of his first album. Andi (Ramone’s
real name was Andi Horvath), brimming with different ideas, mixed a collection
of his own tracks in the spring of 2001 that now happens to be his first official
long player.

Here it is now - "Don't Get High On Your Own Supply" - a continous mix of
75 minutes of ideas and quotes, sudden breaks and surprising fades - an
extraordinary organic feeling: This mind-blowing musical journey was
programmed by Andi using the "Fasttracker" software on a simple DOS-PC
work station. Unfortunately, Andi isn't alive today to experience the success
his music will have with the followers of instrumental HipHop - he died
on the 18th of June, 2001, wholly unexpectedly.

But in his music he will live on forever.

After Andi’s death his family and friends found this special piece of work
and made the decision to release it as his first LP. The only difficulty
proved to be locating the individual track titles and IDs; apart from that
the work had already existed as a finished audio CD. – We took this album
as a point of departure for the "modul8" label. This was also something Andi
had often talked about – starting up a label to serve as a platform for
our own music.

We'd like to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to Andi's parents and
friends for their support in completing this project.

Ram0ne - your style was identical to none.
